API Q1

The American Petroleum Institute (API) Specification Q1, also known as API Spec Q1, is a quality management system (QMS) standard for organizations that provide products and services to the petroleum and natural gas industry. It is designed to help organizations improve their quality management processes and ensure that their products and services meet the industry’s high standards for safety, reliability, and performance.

American Petroleum Institute:

• Mission : To promote safety across the industry globally and influence public policy in support of a strong, viable U.S. oil and natural gas industry.
• Activities : Advocacy, negotiation and lobbying with governmental, legal, and regulatory agencies; research into economic, toxicological, and environmental effects; establishment and certification of industry standards; and education outreach.
• Impact : The oil and natural gas industry supports millions of jobs in the United States and is a major source of energy. However, the industry has also been criticized for its environmental impact and its role in climate change.
